Genesis 11:10 – 11:26

The Generations of Shem

Genesis 11:10 – These are the generations of Shem. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he fathered Arpachshadh.

11-10

Genesis 11:11 – He lived 500 years after the birth of Arpachshadh, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-11

Genesis 11:12/11:13 – Arpachshadh lived 35 years, and he fathered Qeynan. He lived 403 years after the birth of Qeynan, and he fathered sons and daughters. Qeynan lived 30 years, and he fathered Shelach. He lived 330 years, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-13

Once again, I’ve gone with the Septuagint here in order to include Qeynan in this lineage. The years are also different in the Septuagint, generally adding about a century to the age when each patriarch fathered his firstborn. For example, in the Septuagint, Arpachshad is 135 when Qeynan is born, as opposed to the Masoretic Text, where he’s 35 when Shelach is born. I’ve modified these from the Septuagint to keep them closer to the younger ages presented in the Masoretic Text.

Genesis 11:14 – Shelach lived thirty years, and he fathered Ever.

11-14

Genesis 11:15 – He lived 403 years after the birth of Ever, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-15

Genesis 11:16 – Ever lived 34 years, and he fathered Pelegh.

11-16

Genesis 11:17 – He lived 430 years after the birth of Pelegh, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-17

Genesis 11:18 – Pelegh lived 30 years, and he fathered Re`u.

11-18

Genesis 11:19 – He lived 209 years after the birth of Re`u, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-19

Genesis 11:20 – Re`u lived 32 years, and he fathered Serugh.

11-20

Genesis 11:21 – He lived 207 years after the birth of Serugh, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-21

Genesis 11:22 – Serugh lived 30 years, and he fathered Nachor.

11-22

Genesis 11:23 – He lived 200 years after the birth of Nachor, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-23

Genesis 11:24 – Nachor lived 29 years, and he fathered Terach.

11-24

Genesis 11:25 – He lived 119 years after the birth of Terach, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11-25

Genesis 11:26 – Terach lived 70 years, and he fathered Avram, Nachor, and Haran.
